Thai ground beef with basil

Perfect combination of minced beef, chilies and basil leaves will satisfy the whole family. Enjoy this delicious ground beef with steamed rice for a midweek dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ‏ground beef
  • 1 ‏onion, chopped
  • 1 inch ‏ginger, chopped
  • 3 ‏red chilies, chopped
  • 5-6 ‏garlic cloves, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons ‏oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon ‏oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ‏fish sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon ‏cumin
  • 2 tablespoons ‏tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoon ‏red curry paste
  • 1 tablespoon ‏lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ‏black pepper
  • 1/4 cup ‏basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ‏brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ‏salt

Directions:

  1. Heat oil in a wok and add onion. Fry until light golden.

  2. Now add salt, garlic, ginger, cumin and minced beef. Cook until beef color changes.

  3. Add chilies, curry paste, tomato sauce, oyster sauce and basil leaves. Simmer for 12-15 min until the minced is fully cooked.Add sugar and mix well.

  4. Turn off the heat and season with lime juice and black pepper.

  5. Before serving with steamed rice garnish with green onion.
