Fattoush is a Middle Eastern bread salad sprinkled with sumac spice. This pretty purple spice gives the salad a tangy flavor. You can add the vegetables according to your taste and liking.

I have used Lebanese bread  but instead of this you can also use Italian or French or even pita bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces ‏Lebanese bread
  • 3 tablespoons ‏olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ‏sumac
  • 2 ‏large tomatoes, diced
  • 2 ‏cucumbers, diced
  • 1/2 cup ‏mint leaves, roughly chopped
  • 1 head ‏lettuce, shredded
  • 1/4 cup ‏green pepper, diced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup ‏reddish, diced (optional)

FOR DRESSING

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ‏sumac
  • 1/4 cup ‏olive oil
  • 1/2 cup ‏lemon juice
  • 2 ‏garlic cloves chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon ‏salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ‏black pepper

Directions

  1. Cut each bread into 4 pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add bread pieces in batches and cook for 2-3 min until golden.
  3. Take out the bread pieces on a paper towel so that the excess towel is absorbed by the towel.
  4. Combine all the dressing ingredients in a glass jar. Close the lid and shake until well combined.
  5. Crumble the golden crispy bread into small pieces.
  6. Add all the salad ingredients in a bowl along with the bread pieces. Drizzle the dressing. Toss gently and serve. ENJOY!
